HTML meta tag code generator

The use of meta tags in web pages are often required by search engines as a source of information to help them to decide how to list and rank your web site. Meta Tags are not always required, but as a rule of thumb, it makes more sense to take advantage of them than to leave them out. It is a simple process to add Meta Tags to web pages. We have created this free Meta Tag generator, to help you make the most of your submissions.

Advanced meta tag configuration (optional):

Page Title

The Page Title is probably THE most important attribute for search engine rankings. The Page Title should contain a coherent description of the page, and should contain words that are located within the page content. You must choose carefully the title page because this will be the title of your page in the search engines

Description Meta Tag

The Description Meta Tag should contain a coherent description of the page, and should contain words that are located within the page content. The meta description tag allows you to influence the description of your page in the crawlers that support the tag (all provide some support, but AltaVista, AllTheWeb and Teoma make most use of the tag).

Keywords Meta Tag

The meta keywords tag allows you to provide additional text for crawler-based search engines to index along with your body copy. How does this help you? Well, for most major crawlers, it doesn't. That's because most crawlers now ignore the tag.

For best results, select 12 of the most popular and relevant keywords to that particular page, ideally keyword phrases of 2 to 3 words, separated by a comma. Ensure that the keywords you use are located in the title, description and content of the page. If they are not, DO NOT add extra words, otherwise the theme of your page will be watered down. The ordering also plays a role, make sure you order the keywords in order of importance. The 1st being the most important.

Copyright Meta Tag

The Copyright Meta Tag is used to indicate that your information is copy righted. You may wish to indicate any trademark names, patent numbers, copyright or other information which you want to publicly disclose as your intellectual property. The Copyright META tag is a freeform copyright statement which conforms to other META tag standards as shown below.

Character Set Meta Tag

The Charset Meta Tag is used to tell the browser which character set to use. The document character set for XML and HTML 4.0 is Unicode (aka ISO 10646). This means that HTML browsers and XML processors should behave as if they used Unicode internally. But it doesn't mean that documents have to be transmitted in Unicode. As long as client and server agree on the encoding, they can use any encoding that can be converted to Unicode.

Although search engines do not as often use this tag, it is a useful complement to search engines that read the first few lines of text of your webpages.
